Xvid is great for transcoding to your PSP, but not for primary viewing. Get with it.

The folks developing the k-light pack have also included GPU video playback for x.264 video. It only works with about half of all x.264 files but it’s nice they’re working on it. I don’t have to listen to my laptop blowing it’s CPU out of the exhaust vent every single time I want to watch something, and playback is smoother with virtually no jitter (high levels of jitter equal herky-jerkiness) and complete V-synching. (no line down the horizontal middle when things get moving on screen) Thus, Baka looks GREAT when it’s not being crunched by my computer’s (rather outdated) CPU.

AFAIK, WD TV cannot properly display .ass/.ssa subs. Hell, it even has trouble with .srt.

There are several ways to view .mkv files on a TV, if not by direct HDMI-cable, why not use a WDTV? Some new Blu-ray players support the codec as well. Of course, you can use XviD all you want, but technology and the anime community is moving away from this outdated codec.

If xvid would take up less space for the same quality, no one would use h264.
Why do you think h264 requires a better PC to decode? It’s because it compresses more while keeping the same quality.

And of course the xvid is smaller since it’s SD. The same xvid in HD would probably take about 430MB to keep the same quality as h264.

Well no shit, the XviD on here isn’t HD. It’s almost half the resolution of the h264.

Dang, don’t get so offended. I was just wondering what all the “plz release xvid” comments were about when h264 is better quality and smaller in size (facts, not opinions). Nothing in my comment suggested I thought my opinion was superior, I just didn’t realize people watched things on standalone players. In terms of PC playing, h264 is superior to XviD in every way as it encodes faster, has better quality, and takes up less hard drive space.
